MEET THE ARTIST

Houston native Amari Lavergne obtained her BFA and MFA in Studio Art from Houston Baptist University in 2018 and 2022 respectively.

 

Known for her moody self-portrait paintings, Amari loves to dig deep into the things that make her feel strong emotions in order to find the fuel behind each piece. Whether it stems from personal past traumas, the pain perceived from others and the world around us, or the elation in knowing that life is a gift that should be enjoyed, Amari uses her sensitive nature to tap in to the essence of these feelings and portrays them in various ways through painting, drawing, and sculpture.

 

She aspires to be a full-time working artist whose work can inspire and uplift others.
